Ulf Vierke travaille depuis 2004 à Iwalewa-House, centre d'art africain contemporain à l'université de Bayreuth. Il est maître assistant en études culturelles et en arts africains. Il dirige depuis 2007 le DEVA, centre d'archives et d'information de l'IAS (Institute for African Studies) à l'Université de Bayreuth.

Since 2004 he has been employed at Iwalewa-House, the centre of contemporary African Art of the University of Bayreuth. Currently, he holds the position of an assistant professor. He teaches African Arts as well as cultural studies. As a curator his major focus is on photography and contemporary media art with regional focus on East Africa and lusophone Africa especially Angola.
Since 2007 he has held the position of director of DEVA, the archive and information system of the Institute for African Studies (IAS) at the University of Bayreuth.
